What is an Item Tag?


Item Tags are used to group similar items together to help track inventory, manage stock levels, and monitor item consumption. They allow the system and users to filter items easily and apply specific rules or actions based on the item type.


Available Item Tags:


  • Perishable
  • Non-Perishable
  • Prepared Food
  • Instant Food
  • Custom tag

How to Create Custom Item Tag


Follow below steps to create a new item tag


Steps:

  1. Go to Admin.
  2. Select Item Tag.
  3. Click Create Item Tag.
  4. Enter the Item Tag Name and select appropriate item label like Custom/Perishable/Non perishable etc.
  5. Click Save.


How to Assign an Item Tag against Item Variation


Follow below steps to map item tags against item variation.


Steps:

  1. Go to Items.
  2. Select an item from the list and Click View
  3. Edit Item variation and Locate the Item Tag field.
  4. Choose the appropriate tag.
  5. Click Save.


Predefined Item Tag:




  • Perishable - Items like Fruits & vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, and dairy which are likely to spoil or decay quickly comes under perishable tag.
  • Non-Perisable - Items that are processed or packaged to withstand prolonged storage comes under non-perishable tag.
  • Prepared Food - Food that are typically produced for immediate consumption or ready-to-eat foods comes under prepared food tag.
  • Instant Food - Foods like coffee or noodles that require minimal preparation comes under instant food tag.



Family Tag


What is a Family Tag?


A Family Tag is used to group related items under a common category. It helps businesses view, filter, and generate reports only for items mapped to that family, without mixing unrelated items. Family Tags are commonly used for sales analysis, inventory tracking, and category-wise reporting.


For instance, store groups items using Family Tags such as:


  • Beverages
  • Snacks
  • Groceries


When generating a sales report for Beverages, the application shows only beverage items mapped to that family tag.

How to create a Family Tag


  • Go to Admin
  • Navigate to Item Tag
  • Click Create Item Tag
  • Enter the Family Tag Name & Choose Family Tag
  • Click Save



How to assign Family tag to Items


  • Go to Items
  • Select or edit an item variations
  • Locate the Item Tag field
  • Select the required family tag
  • Click Save


Notes:


  • A single Item Tag or Family Tag can be applied to all variations of an item.
  • Multiple tags can be mapped to an individual item variation, if required.
  • Item Tags and Family Tags are optional and are not mandatory for sales processing or inventory management.
  • Item Tags and Family Tags can also be mapped in bulk using the Item Variation Upload Sheet, allowing multiple items or variations to be updated at once.
