KOT Mapping and Setup

KOT (Kitchen Order Ticket):

A Kitchen Order Ticket (KOT) is a token generated in a restaurant or food establishment to communicate orders from the customer to the kitchen staff. It serves as a crucial tool in streamlining the food preparation process and ensuring accurate and timely service.

Consider a busy restaurant where a waiter takes a customer's order. After finalizing the order, the details are sent to the kitchen using a Kitchen Order Ticket (KOT). This KOT acts as a summary of the order, specifying the dishes and quantities. When the KOT appears on the kitchen printer, the kitchen staff uses it to prepare the ordered items efficiently. This smooth communication through the KOT system enhances overall efficiency and customer satisfaction in the dining experience.

1. To Print KOT In One Device:

Scenario : Where a restaurant utilizes a single printer for KOT and aims to print all items on a unified KOT, whether it's the receipt printer or a designated printer for KOT.

Step 1 : Navigate to POS Frontend → Settings → Printer Settings.

Step 2 : Under KOT printers, select the KOT printer you want to use.

Step 3 : Enable the option "Use the first printer as KOT for unmapped items."

This will print the KOT for all items on the selected printer.

2. To print KOT on multiple kitchen devices:

Scenario: In cases where a restaurant operates multiple kitchens, each specializing in different cuisines such as Chinese, Indian, Coffee, Tandoori, etc., our system allows for the configuration of dedicated KOTs (Kitchen Order Tickets) for each item. This means that during the billing process, items will be automatically routed to their respective kitchen KOT, streamlining the order preparation process.

Backend:

Step 1: Create KOT Device for different kitchens

Navigation : Pos Admin → Accounts & settings → Device → Add device

Step 2: After creating the KOT kitchen device, go to "Items."

Navigation : Pos Admin → Items → View → Inventory → Edit

Step 3: Under the "Device" section in the item details, choose the KOT device where the item should be printed.

Ex, If it is a Chinese item, select a Chinese kitchen KOT device.

By following these steps, you can ensure that KOTs for specific items are sent to the designated devices in the kitchen for preparation.

Frontend:

Step 1: Add the KOT Printer to the POS Frontend

3. To print Different kitchen KOT in Single Printer :

Scenario:

Imagine a restaurant with a limited number of printers where the management wants to print Kitchen Order Tickets (KOTs) separately based on the cuisine. In this case, we set up KOT devices for different cuisines like Chinese, Indian, Tandoori, etc. Each of these KOT devices is then mapped to their respective items. When orders are placed, these items will be printed separately in one printer, allowing for organized and efficient kitchen operations.

Backend:

Navigation : Pos Admin → Accounts & settings → Device → Add device

Step 2: After creating the KOT kitchen device, go to "Items."
